Nicaragua: how was institutionality reformed to concentrate power? (Only in Spanish)

On January 10, 2017, President Daniel Ortega Saavedra took office as President of the Republic of Nicaragua for the third time.

This was facilitated by a series of constitutional and legal reforms that were approved, gradually, since 2000, and that have generated, at least, the erosion of the country’s democratic institutionality, and a disturbing concentration of power that has had a serious impact on the political rights of the Nicaraguans.

The aim of this document is to make an account of the main reforms that have been carried out and that are determinant to understand the integration and current functioning of some key institutions in the rule of law of the country.
