Women
CEJIL was founded in the early 90s, at a time when, in much of the world, women’s rights were not understood as human rights. Since then, we have worked with feminist and women’s rights organizations to address the structural discrimination and violence faced by women.
From litigation to advocacy, from ushering in the Belém do Para convention to launching our GQUAL campaign, we know that successful societies ensure that women can live free from violence and with the same levels of access to power and opportunity as men.
