CEJIL 30 years

This year marks the 30th anniversary of CEJIL’s founding in 1991. Since then, CEJIL’s strategic litigation, advocacy, and communications efforts have expanded human rights for those most marginalized, overturned amnesty laws, and protected human rights defenders.

As one of the leading human rights organizations working to defend and promote human rights in the Americas, CEJIL carries the largest case load of any single organization before the Inter-American Human Rights System. We are currently involved in over 200 cases linked to over 27,000 direct beneficiaries. We focus on emblematic and landmark cases, as well as urgent cases involving the most vulnerable, whose results have led both to individual redress and to institutional changes that improve Latin American society.

CEJIL, 30 years defending rights to change realities!
