State-Sponsored Violence

CEJIL supports victims of forced disappearances, extrajudicial executions, and torture. Many of these crimes took place during the decades of armed conflict in Central America and authoritarian regimes in South America, but many have also occurred under democratic leadership. Through strategic litigation, media communications, and political advocacy, CEJIL contributes to the search for truth, justice, and reparations for the victims and survivors of these events.

Recently, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we monitored national governments as they enforced quarantine and other sanitation controls, and we provided a platform with information and tools designed to promote human rights during the crisis.
