Join the Regional Call for Action in Solidarity with our Venezuelan migrant brothers and sisters!
Last weekend, the governments of Peru and Ecuador announced that Venezuelan migrants arriving at the respective borders will have to present a passport as a requirement to obtain access to either of the two countries. Likewise, in Brazil, xenophobic attacks have led to the deployment of military troops to the border area.
The requirement of documentation, the closing of borders, the criminalization of entry or irregular presence, immigration detention, hate speech and other measures cannot be used as dissuasive tools to a regional crisis. Together, we have an obligation to welcome our Venezuelan brothers and sisters.
Join the over 200 civil society organizations launching a call for action urging States across the continent, as well as regional and international bodies, to work “in a joint way against the massive forced displacement of more than two million people in Venezuela.” #VenezuelaMigrates
