Knowledge of English is a plus<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Excellent ability to organize ideas, analyze information, and write documents aimed at diverse audiences<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowledge of international law, human mobility trends, and the sociopolitical context of Central America and Mexico is preferable<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Previous experience in NGOs or other demonstrated interest in human rights is a plus<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"rtejustify\">Job Description<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The human mobility internship is based in CEJIL&#8217;s office in San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica. Under the supervision of the multidisciplinary human mobility team, interns collaborate in monitoring and analyzing the national, regional, and international context of migration and displacement, including the systematization of policies, legal frameworks and international standards. They can also contribute to the construction of advocacy strategies and capacity building processes regarding situations of human rights violations. They can also contribute to the construction of advocacy strategies and capacity building processes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their responsibilities may include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monitoring the human rights situation in the region<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"rtejustify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participating in meetings and attending relevant events<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researching and systematizing information, including on legal and policy frameworks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drafting memoranda, legal briefs, or other analytical documents according to CEJIL&#8217;s priority areas<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coordinating meetings and\/or conferences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reviewing and translating institutional documents<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Performing basic administrative tasks when required\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"rtejustify\">Objective<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the end of their collaboration with CEJIL, interns will have a deeper understanding of regional issues and international standards regarding the human rights of migrants, internally displaced persons, and refugees. They will also gain experience in designing and implementing strategies to strengthen the human rights demands of these groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is expected that interns in CEJIL be responsible and motivated individuals with the ability to easily adapt to working in a multicultural and dynamic setting. It is necessary that interns possess the ability to handle a wide variety of tasks and be a team player. Because the majority of CEJIL\u2019s work is carried out in Spanish, it is essential that interns possess a strong command of spoken and written Spanish. For our office in Brazil, a strong command of oral and written Portuguese is expected. Command of the English language is also welcome, specifically in the Washington, D.C. office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please note that we are unable to provide financial assistance for interns. However, CEJIL welcomes applicants who have financial support from universities or other organizations. We also do not provide assistance with any visa arrangements, but accepted candidates will receive an official letter of acceptance, which can help in the visa solicitation process.
