The General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) today elected in El Salvador four of seven members of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH) for a term of four years from January 2012. The Chilean Felipe Gonz\u00e1lez was reelected for a period of four years.<br \/>\nThe three new members of the Commission are Jamaican Tracy Robinson, the Paraguayan Rosa Maria Ortiz and Rose-Marie Belle Antoine Belizean.<br \/>\nThe commissioners and commissioners carry out their work independently so they do not represent any state but fulfill their personal capacity, independently. Each member of the Commission exercises its duties for a period of four years with possibility of reelection for an equal period.<br \/>\nThose elected begin their mandate in January 2012. The integration of the Commission&#8217;s complete US Dinah Shelton, Colombian Rodrigo Escobar Gil and Mexican Jos\u00e9 de Jes\u00fas Orozco Henr\u00edquez, whose mandates culminate in 2013. and new members the Commission replaced the Brazilian Paulo Sergio Pinheiro, the Salvadoran Mar\u00eda Silvia Guill\u00e9n and the Venezuelan Luz Patricia Mej\u00eda Guerrero.<br \/>\nThe Inter-American Commission on Human Rights is based in Washington, United States, along with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, is a primary organ of the OAS.
